Leon Thornton works as a Product Application Engineer for Trimble Inc. in Westminster. He specializes in Land Administration – registration of property rights, cadastral mapping, and property valuation. He has been developing software for almost 40 years. He has a degree in mathematics and an MBA.
He and his wife, a professional educator for over 20 years, live in Thornton. They have three grown children and one grandson.
Leon has worked in or visited 37 countries on six continents, and he is a believer in community service and service to humanity. During one summer of service in 1994, he had the opportunity to meet with Mother Teresa while working with the Sisters of Charity in Kolkata, India.
He has been a pianist since the age of seven, and can often be found playing ragtime, classical, movie themes and pop tunes. He is a third generation genealogist and on-site cemetery researcher.
